I don't put piracy as the primary reason for this argument, but that's one of reasons why people should understand what he's been through when the whole backlash happened a few months ago. When i came here, Nacho himself replied to me that he was disappointed because people disrespected him and demanded more stuff from him while he already gave free updates for itch.io version and he also stated that his game was stolen multiple times. Sure he made mistakes, but he deserve to feel disappointed too and no one should disrespect him that much when he already apologized and eventually gave the Steam version in here as well. No devs want their work to get pirated so it's one of valid reason if they want to try moving their games to another platform with stronger security because even if Steam games can still be pirated, it is way more difficult than just simply copying the direct files like Itch.io version.

(1 edit)

I'm sorry but did i even ask you to apologize? I was talking if you're in Nacho's position and still getting that kind of discouraging comments even after he tried to apologize and fixed everything, maybe you'll finally understand his situation too. You can have opinion, but that "0/5" is honestly so unnecessary if you're trying to be honest with your rating, but well if you don't want to deal with this anymore, that’s your choice then. Peace out.

I get that you're disappointed, but if you were an indie dev who's mainly working alone, hoping you will be successful with your games but you got your games pirated by some people, insults and harassment even after you tried to apologize and fix everything like what he did, i hope you'll understand that too.

(1 edit)

I honestly still don't get why you really need to throw that "0/5" part, are you saying that Nacho doesn't deserve money at all because he removed the itch.io version and "force" people to buy the remake? Because if that's what you mean then i think you have to understand what he already stated, he said that he removed the itch.io version to avoid confusion for new players after he released the remake version and itch.io still accessible for early buyers only. Besides, he eventually gave the Steam version in here as well and created "One Jump Closer" for free but i don't get why people still complaining this stuff again, if he never apologize and never explain anything then your point is valid, but he already did everything he could and there's no need to keep assuming bad intentions or saying things that demotivate him. If you just put "1/5" in your comment without throwing that "0/5" then i wouldn't mind, people will think you're just giving honest rating if you also put your reasonings in the first place.

It's okay if you don't like the remake, but blatantly saying "Itchio doesn't allow 0/5" sounds like you're trying to invalidate his work. You could've just say 1/5 and that's it, that will be your real rating, but if you also say "0/5", then you don't have to rate it at all. A rating has a reason why it's called "rating" and i don't think i need to explain more about it.

Is the "Itchio doesn't allow 0/5" part was really that necessary?

Omg you're so real with that nostalgia thing, i thought i'm the only one who thinks this game gives similar vibe to those iconic flash games in the past, haha! 😆

Congratulations on the release of this game!! 🎉

I've finally rated the game now. It was really fun and challenging game ngl despite it's very frustrating for someone with a device that always have low fps like me lol 🥲 but i still managed to beat it after the release of the early access!

Thank you for making such a great game and hope we can see Nightmare Clown on your next game again! 👀

Edit: Also, i realized that little room looks similar to the apartment background of TNMN, interesting detail btw!

[Spoiler warning]

This level require perfect timing. Since the clown gives you only 4 chance to jump before it explodes, you gotta jump once to the rusty surface on the middle (1), then double jump through that moving chainsaw thing to the left (3), and then jump through that chainsaw to go to the door (4). Hope this helps! ;)

Ahh i see, thanks for the explanation!!

Hi NachoSama, i just wanted to say thank you very much for the early access of your newest game! I managed to beat the whole game today and wanted to rate it but it seems like there's an error because it says something like "try again later", so i think i could just wait and give my rating for the game later. Overall, the game is awesome and really challenging, i hope once it releases publicly, people gonna love it. Looking forward to see your next project in the future! ✌👀

I'm probably so late with this reply lol, but i managed to make it full screen by right clicking the white bar above the screen and then click the full screen button, then restart the game and there you go, a full screen experience to The Apartment Upstairs! :D

Thank you very much!! I'm honestly one of huge fan of Dr. Afton, so i'd love to keep drawing him for literally anything, haha! XD Also, good luck with remaking this game and your future projects, i hope your games will become even more successful after TNMN released, take your time! 🤞

So i downloaded this game yesterday and managed to get both endings today! I honestly not very familiar with Silent Hill lore, but i must say that overall IT LOOKS SO GOOD! It also gives those old nostalgic RPG horror games vibe like Mad Father, Misao, The Witch's House, Ib, etc. and i'm really a fan of this type of games.

(SPOILER) When i played the whole game, the most difficult part is having to get used with the controls during the boss fight, i kept pressing Z instead of using A to attack them haha xD but i eventually managed to beat it, and that creature where it keeps chasing Jane in dark prison area was kinda stressful for me because i gotta hide in no time everytime he appears out of nowhere in every rooms. Also, i was first kinda confused what to do with that secret amulet, turns out it was for Sophie to get the "better" ending.

I absolutely love the whole eerie vibes of the game and the references to Silent Hill, it makes this game really unique and i can tell how much you love the game by making this. Kinda hope that someday, TNMN also have this type of RPG style as well, i would go crazy if that really happens, or maybe, a prequel about "T.H.P." lore would be so amazing in this type of game.

I also wanted to pay the game but unfortunately, Itch.io won't let me do it because it keeps saying errors, i tried to use every method but i couldn't, so i think i will just drop this Jane's fanart here as my appreciation XD I hope you like it and thanks for keep making fantastic games for us, looking forward to seeing what you cook up next! 😄✌

OMG HII NEW MEMBER HERE?!? WELCOME!!! 🎉🎉🎉

""I will no longer be replying to anything you say.""

Thank you for everything you've done, Nachosama, I really appreciate all of the hard work you put into making sure Itch.io players still get the remake version!

Now i wanted to ask about the last part of this announcement, does this mean that TNMN might still receive new updates in the future, or were you mainly referring to your another future projects for Steam players? I'm just curious since i really love this game and i definitely would love to see more of it if you still want to continue working on it. 😊

The fact that they always said "no matter the amount of money, we paid for the original version, why would we have to buy again when you already promised free updates" as their argument and whining because he couldn't fulfill his promises really shows they only wanted free stuff from Nachosama and not to support his hard work. I genuinely can't believe those fake fans actually exist in here. TNMN doesn't need those losers who already tried to bring him down. I'm really glad that the situation is getting better now after he came back and it's honestly such a big change for people to start understanding his mistakes and defending him now. ❤

🔥🔥🔥

NachoSama, first of all, i want to say thank you very much for taking a break and deciding to coming back. I'm really, really glad that you're feeling better now and even decided to continue TNMN again.

During your break, i truly can't believe that i've dealt with so many people that tried to harass and accuse you because of your mistakes even though you already stated that your mistakes are accidental and apologized for many times, i just can't believe the whole backlash situation that happened in the past few weeks. The situation really shows those who only cares about their own money and not about your work. I really can't believe that some of them even called themselves "fans" when they're literally insulting you and your game after you did some mistakes for the first time. A real fan would NEVER try to bring down the developer of their favorite game, a real fan would understand your mistakes, give some actual constructive criticisms, and keep supporting your work, no matter what. The whole TNMN fans outside this website were also really disappointed when i brought the whole heartbreaking situation and they were all really hoping that you're going to be fine.

Now that you finally came back, i'm really grateful because you're now doing fine and feeling better. I'm also really grateful that you even decided to continue TNMN again. You can always take a break again if you really need it and don't push yourself too far because we all care about your well-being, so please take your time as much as you need to fix everything again.

I'm also really glad the situation is getting better now, so i want to thank everyone who tried to defend Nachosama as well in the past few days. If you understand his mistakes and really care about his well-being, then you deserve to be called as a real fan, so thank you very much everyone who managed to turn the situation getting better! ❤♠️

Once again, thank you very much Nachosama and everyone who are still supporting him, i also wanted to apologize if i did some mistakes in my words. I hope that TNMN and other Nachosama's work will always be successful. Best of luck and i hope you all have a really nice day or night! ✨

Oh, thank you! I honestly appreciate it. Despite being a Physicist, i just love to do some little art to roast these "doppelgangers" as well, haha!

"I'm not on either side here"

Mhm. First of all, did i ever say that "you all should never feel disappointed with Nachosama's decisions" ?
I suggest you to see my oldest comment i put in here, then you will see what i've actually felt about all of the backlash here.

I can smell who and where those downvotes come from. How fascinating! But it's your choice after all, so i don't mind if i need to receive hundreds of them as well, go on!

You don't care, huh? Okay, but your comment is one of them that actually bothered me. If you don't want to buy the remake and don't want to support him anymore because you got disappointed, i don't care as well, but saying "the blatant willingness to f*ck over "fans" is truly "disheartening"" is like you treated his mistakes like a "betrayal" while he literally apologized for many times. No actual real TNMN fans will count you as a fan if you stated such a bad opinion. I think you don't fully understand the whole situation either so i just assume that you got so disappointed to the point you need to bring the word "fans" as well just to justify your own disappointment! 🧍‍♀️

LMAOOO he also blocked me as well 😭😭😭 bro really went from ragebaiting to ragequitting real quick. It really shows that the kind of people like this never have good intention from the start and just trying so hard to make Nachosama looks bad. This is just getting hilarious at this point, haha! 🤣

"an adult uses one(1) swear word, 20 dead 40 injured" Dawg, you've got to be kidding me 💀💀💀

Okay so first of all, lemme tell you something clear so you can at least understand the real situation. Nacho already stated multiple times that the Itch.io version is already finished, the remake on Steam is another version. Both version are built on different frameworks. Despite some of the art assets may look the same, the mechanics and coding were entirely redone from scratch to fit Steam's requirement. The whole remake is build for Steam version, it's not really like he can simply drag and drop the same files and BOOM- "TNMN remake is finished within just a few hours, now i can put it on Steam, yay!!!".

Second of all, i've said this multiple times in the comment that devs also need to protect their games from piracy because Nacho stated that his game has been stolen by some people multiple times and they made a profit off of it. It's also one of most valid reason if he doesn't want to update the Itch.io version anymore and move the game to Steam because Steam has stronger protection than Itch.io and it makes it harder for casual players who want to get a free copy of it.

Third of all, when i said "discouraging the dev to continue TNMN", it means that TNMN will literally have no continuation since people backlashed him that much. If people here were a bit nicer and give some actual constructive criticisms to make the game better, i believe he will be motivated to improve the game and learn from his mistakes, not blatantly disrespecting him to the point he doesn't want to do his other future works as well.

Conclusion is, people didn't give him a break because of his mistakes, and he discouraged to continue TNMN and his other future works because of all of the disrespect toward him. I'm really grateful if he still decide to come back and continue to improve the game, but if he never comes back, then i will NEVER forgive those who already insulted him and his game that much.

(1 edit)

Oh wow, you really dropped a thesis-length reply this time, but that's absolutely okay and i honestly appreciate that! Now, i'm gonna write my long argument as well to point out your missing points.

First of all, you were already inconsistent with what you've said. You said to the dev like "You clearly don't want to release the Steam version on Itch.io" while that's technically an unfeasible thing to do. Why? Because both version are built on different frameworks, and i already told you why it is impossible to do. Despite some of the art assets may look the same, the mechanics and coding were entirely redone from scratch to fit Steam's requirement. The whole remake is build for Steam version, it's not really like you simply drag and drop the files and BOOM- "TNMN remake is finished within just a few hours and i can put this in Itch.Io as well!"

• "He claimed free indefinite updates of the game. To then "re-release" the game and call it a different game." Nachosama literally stated multiple times that the Itch.io version is already FINISHED. He stated "free indefinite updates" for Itch version, the Steam is another version. TNMN Itch.io version have 3 FREE updates after the og game released, they're Nightmare, Endless, and Campaign Mode. The game ended on Campaign Mode and he decided to remake and expand the game to Steam because he wants to TRY something new and to reach out more people as well. The remake is NOT an update to Itch.io version but most people still failing so hard to understand this. People still complaining about his mistakes and decisions while no developer can predict the future perfectly. He delivered multiple free updates as promised, but as a solo dev, he eventually had to decide how to continue sustainably (and trying to avoid piracy as well). People who treated his mistakes like a "betrayal" really shows that they're ignoring how indie development works. It's his own decision with his OWN game, so plans can change, no matter what.

• "However, if he was set on giving Steam keys for free, that means he had the intention of giving the Steam update for free." No, that's not how game development works buddy. Remake is not always something you can get for free, he still worked hard for that and deserve to get paid. You kept saying it's "Steam update" while in reality that it's a rebuild version. It's also a Steam policy if he can only give 100 keys, not completely his fault, and he already apologized for many times that he didn't aware of that restrictions. It's not up to him how many keys he can give because Steam keys are limited by Valve, not by Nachosama himself.

• "Just tell the fans that there will be no more updates to the game because he's remaking it for Steam with new features." The game itself literally SHOWS that the whole game is already finished, if Nacho still really need to explain it that much, then they're clearly ignoring the progress of the development. I'm gonna explain this through the images below this text.

After reading the whole text, i can conclude that you're just trying to paint Nachosama as dishonest, even when the facts prove otherwise. He's an indie dev who tried to figure things out and worked alone for his game, but people just never understand the struggle of game development and problems that indie devs need to face. He could've update and improve the game more if people here were a bit nicer, but instead of giving constructive criticisms, they didn't even give him a break and decided to backlash him with entitled complaints, who act like they're owed free content forever, which is why he eventually discouraged from continuing TNMN and his other future work.

I'm actually still curious if you're still trying to find another reasons as a counter to justify your arguments. I'm honestly really fascinated that you even wrote a longer text this time, but that doesn't change the fact that all of my arguments are still better and reasonable because i already managed to bring down those who also tried to bring Nachosama down when he was already falling down. I don't even mind if i have to write a really long thesis just to point out your missing points again, because my whole intention was good from the start, trying to defend a developer who's been struggling after all of the backlash and insults he's been facing when he literally didn't deserve all of that disrespect. So go ahead if you still have another argument, i'm still really interested with what you're going to reply this time! 😀👍

"Plenty of games get pirated, and they still do well." Bro's acting like piracy isn't a big deal while Nachosama literally an indie dev who struggles and deserve to get paid for his hard work alone. Piracy might not kill AAA studios, but for a solo dev, every sale counts.

"90% of gamers aren't thieves" says WHO?? Did i ever assume that "90% of gamers are thieves for pirating his game"??? That's why he said "multiple times", not everyone, because there are people who actually stole his game and made a profit off of it. The Itch.io version also has raw files that makes it easier for people who want to get it for free while Steam makes it harder because it has stronger security and protection.

"This is basically a Papers, Please clone." Laziest take i've always seen. Just because a game has similar mechanic, doesn't mean it's completely a clone. They both still have different concept, art style, and story. Papers Please is more about politics, ethics, and survival while TNMN is more about paranoia, horror, and deception based from the doppelgangers situation.

Go make some actual better argument if you want to use it as a counter instead of trying to sound smart, you're just gonna embarrass yourself even more if you're still trying to make this kind of argument again. 🥸

"I hope you die"

LMFAO I JUST NOTICED THIS ONE, PROBABLY ONE OF THE WILDEST I'VE SEEN-

It's better to leave the dude alone at this point man, they already failed the moment they got a lot of downvotes before, they're clearly just too desperate trying to justify their argument now, haha! 😂

Ikr man, and tbh, this dude is not worth arguing with anymore, but i'd love to see how far this dude can go despite all of their arguments are already collapsing, haha!

Oh, haha, i've noticed that you're still not backing down, i see. How fascinating! But since it seems like you're always talking about Nachosama's inconsistency, how about you go take a mirror first and take a look back at your previous comment compared to what you've been talking recently, then we can talk about it further if you still can explain what you actually really wanted! 🥸

"Lies"

I'm so sick but too lazy to educate the kind of people like you again so ima just drop this pic instead.

I'm gonna say this again if people still gonna ask for a refund and accuse Nachosama for wanting money only and not because he wants to share his own game.

It's honestly really wild and disappointing that most of people here are always complaining about "having to buy twice" and "he broke his promises" as their strongest argument when the game has always been just $3. Nachosama didn't raise the price of the original game, didn't upcharge for the remake, and he admitted his mistakes, apologized for many times after he couldn't promised the Steam Key and Itch.io refund, yet, people really backlashed him so much to the point they destroyed his passion for TNMN and his other future work.

"But it's still their money, no matter the amount, he forced people to buy twice!" So, are you guys gonna ignoring the amount of effort he put into TNMN as well? He made the game ENTIRELY by himself, he made the game from scratch, concept art, UI/UX, coding, prototype, final artwork, and everything that involves game development. As a college student and artist, i know it's really HARD to do all of that ALONE, Nachosama managed to success with TNMN because he was really motivated to create such a unique game entirely by himself, and he still charged the game in such incredibly low prices than most indie devs would. Not to mention that his game got really popular, he could've raise the price for the remake if he wants to but NOPE, Nachosama didn't want you to pay in a higher price because he GENUINELY wanted to SHARE his own game, NOT scamming you out of fortune.

People also forgot the fact that devs NEED TO PROTECT THEIR GAME FROM PIRACY. Nachosama stated that his game has been STOLEN multiple times and people made profit off of it which it is absolute CRIME & DISRESPECTFUL TO DEVELOPERS. It's also one of most valid reason for him to move his own game to Steam because Steam has stronger security than Itch.io, but some people fail to realize this and ignore this copyrights problem. Nacho didn't mind it at first, but seeing how some of you backlash him because he decided to remake and expand the game to Steam, you immediately throw the "YOU'RE SO ARROGANT FOR 'FORCING' US TO BUY TWICE!!!" and calling him "greedy" while the real ones who are being greedy here are  the people who only cares about their own MONEY & FREE STUFF from his game.

So the point of my comment? Just GIVE HIM A BREAK. Respect every of his decision, understand what he already stated instead of asking the same thing that is already explained by him for many times. It's NO USE if you keep harassing him because now he already discouraged from continuing TNMN and his other work. He also probably got really traumatized after all of the backlash that was happening in here. Some of you just decided to disrespect him in any unhinged way possible when he was already falling down, that's honestly such a pathetic move and you should be ashamed of yourself for disrespecting him this much.

If you're still disagree with me? Then it's your choice! It's your choice if you want to downvote my comment as well. I fight against those who insulted Nachosama because i got FREAKING DISAPPOINTED TO SEE MY FAVORITE DEV BEING DISRESPECTED THIS MUCH. This just proves Nacho that most of people here are just fake fans who only care about their own money and not his work once he couldn't fulfill his promises while the "sane" TNMN fans out there are way more reasonable with their constructive criticisms after he released the remake in Steam.

Thank you if you read this and i hope you have a ✨nice day or night!!!✨ 😊👍👍👍

"Not taking responsibility for any of your actions" is such a wild word LMAO. 😭🙏

Don't worry gusy, IF you don't agree with this dude, i already obliterated them with my bomb of texts the moment they tried to challenge me to shut up in my previous comment. This just proves that they don't actually care the situations and want to harrass Nachosama only. You're not getting away with this when you literally just harrassed both me and the dev dawg. Here, have a pic of this cat again to make your day a bit better! 😺👍
