As for the ETA, pretty sure there isn't one, and I know there was a little roadblock about a month ago with the developer being sick.
Announcement from 8/18/2024 in #announcements:
"Regarding news about upcoming updates and whatnot. There is NOT a release date or estimate for the next update. When there is one, it will be a firm exact date. Keep on waiting.
As for what you've been hearing about August, there will be a NEWS post. There was a miscommunication in the dev-questions channel where Komi said there will be something in August. This is a news update not a game update; it will not be anything to download, and no extra content to play."
